Muyiwa Olarewaju, a British-Nigerian gospel singer, has been awarded the OBE.
At an investiture ceremony held at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, January 12, the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, presented the 52-year-old awardee with the Officer of the Order of the British Empire medal.
The BBC One talent show judge and radio broadcaster was awarded an OBE for his outstanding contributions to music in the Queen’s Birthday Honour Roll of 2020.
The ecstatic musician couldn’t contain his enthusiasm as he shared the news with his fans on Instagram. “For services to music,” he wrote. Thank you to everyone who has never stopped believing in this ‘young man.’ It was only possible because of you. No one is paying attention to you doing gospel music, according to one of my professors. Here we are, years later.”
